Like to make a special thanks to some of the guys out there who went the extra mile:
Ben Fairly, Eric Edwards and Roger Chancellor who came up with two baskets plus a ton of collectible goodies to be auctioned off. Kevin Parkhurst and Shyne Dillahunty for lending their support and proceeds from their recent tournaments. Kevin Royal for the benefit tournament in the works and for his support in other ways. Thank you, guys! You’ve earned your wings!

Sorry about the lack of recent updates, I’ve been sick for a few days but I’m back now.
Steve was release from the hospital later in the evening so he didn’t have to spend the night. He was being troubled by an irregularity in his heartbeat, something that can happen when you are dehydrated, when your blood pressure is low or when your electrolytes are out of balance. In Steve’s case, all three were true. He has new medication to stabilize his heartbeat and has not experienced the problem since.

The Saturday night collectible auction held at this year’s KOA Pro/Am Jam was a tremendous success. So many contributed their collectible items so we could auction them off with the proceeds going to Steve. From the Saturday night auction alone, we raised over $1400.00 dollars. There was a special raffle of a basket the following day that netted a another couple of hundred dollars. Disc Golfers have huge hearts. We love them all.<–more–>

The last several days have been up and down. Pain in varying degrees at night. The doctors warned Steve that there would be due to the effect of the radiation on the tumor, so this is good and bad. Good because the radiation is having some effect. Bad because he is in pain, sometime bad enough to prevent sleep. You wish there was something you could do…but there isn’t, so you feed frustrated and helpless. Now we are waiting on the results of the last PET scan to see how things are going. Steve is still planning to be with us for the KOA Pro/Am Jam. Read the rest of this entry »

Today is Steve’s re-evaluation. They will evaluate the results from the previous radiation and chemotherapy rounds and decide what to do from here. Presently, tomorrow, Wednesday, is scheduled to be the last of the current round of radiation. He should have a period of rest now. He seems to be feeling ok, none of the horrendous side effects he had with the first chemotherapy attempt. He is tired, understandably, from the radiation, but he seems to be eating a bit better. Still some problems sleeping at night thought. He has to use the Morphine Sulphate at night for the discomfort. We will see what they say at today’s re-evaluation.

Steve’s brother has been visiting which perked his spirits up a bit. They went to a Shark’s game over the weekend and this was also the World’s Greatest Disc Golf weekend so they dropped by Stafford Lake. Pleased to say, the weekend made cash. We also received a promise of some hard-to-find and/or collector’s discs to auction off to help Steve. The auction is scheduled to take place at the KOA Pro/Am Jam tournament held on June 7th and 8th in Willits. The auction will be held on the evening of Saturday, June 7th. The drawing and trophies will be awarded on Sunday evening, the 8th. We already have quite a bit of material, some of it dating from the early days of disc golf. We just have to determine minimum bids and get the stuff sorted and marked.

Today was the third radiation treatment and Steve hasn’t had any side effects, so far. In fact, he’s been able to eat a little better which is just what we were hoping for. I turned off the lights for a minute, and he hasn’t started to glow in the dark yet. We were hoping to save a little on the electric bill but no luck yet. Maybe he’ll glow a little bit better next week. He has another radiation treatment on Monday, then it is chemotherapy time on the 29th. I’m not sure if he will have a radiation treatment that day or not.
